Nancy sings some sweet Latin groovers in Spanish – backed by groovy 60s arrangements from Joe Sherman! The feel here isn't quite as driving as on her classic "Mas Que Nada" album – but it does have a similar style – sort of blending easy 60s vocals with swinging pop Latin rhythms, all in a style that's pretty darn groovy, especially on the upbeat numbers! Tracks include Spanish versions of "Yesterday", "That Kiss", "A Taste Of Honey", "Call Me", and "Shadow Of Your Smile"

Maria Callas - Live & Alive [HD 44.1kHz - 24bit ]
En el 40 aniversario de la muerte de la Callas, el sello Warner, actual dueño de los derechos de su discografía de estudio, se lanza ahora a la tarea de remasterizar las grabaciones del vivo de la divina, terreno donde se la puede oír muchas veces en mejor forma y mas electrizante en comparación con su trabajo de estudio.
En el año 2014 el sello lanzó una remasterización de toda la discografía de estudio que llevó a los ingenieros de sonido a recurrir a las cintas originales y a realizar un trabajo de restauración que logró mejorar de manera notable el anterior trabajo realizado por EMI en 1997, cuando relanzó todo el catalogo de la divina con motivo de los 20 años de su fallecimiento.
Si en el trabajo de estudio el sello Warner logró maravillas, en el trabajo que se plantea ahora sobre las grabaciones del vivo surgen grandes dudas con respecto a la fuente desde donde se está haciendo el trabajo de remasterización. En todas las contratapas de los discos se presume de haber recurrido a la "grabación original" cuando en verdad en la mayoría de los casos no existe tal fuente "original" pues casi todas las grabaciones del vivo de las que disponemos actualmente provienen de copias, de la copia, de la copia del original. En la mayoría de los casos provienen de transmisiones radiales que luego fueron copiadas y vendidas en LP de dudoso copyright pero prácticamente no queda ninguna fuente a la que se pueda llamar legítimamente "original".
Por lo mismo resulta incomprensible que después de haber logrado maravillas con el meticuloso trabajo de restauración de los discos de estudio, el sello Warner no tenga el mismo ímpetu de buscar las mejores fuentes para restaurar estas grabaciones. Sabemos que en muchos casos las versiones del vivo aparecidas en EMI dejan bastante que desear, en cambio otros sellos, especialmente Divina Records (poseedores del catálogo BJR), ya han entregado grandes trabajos de restauración de grabaciones que por muchos años solo estuvieron disponibles en sellos piratas que a veces de manera bastante inescrupulosa vendían una calidad de audio francamente desastrosa.
En este disco doble recopilatorio del nuevo trabajo de remasterización se puede apreciar, a modo de aperitivo, parte de los nuevos títulos disponibles en el nuevo box.

Esoteric have produced a remarkable transfer that preserves beautifully the hall sound, spatial information and detail. The brass and mass strings have excellent detail, revealing a lot of subtle harmonies and variation – a boon for anything Wagner. This contributes to an overall impression of sophistication and restraint and goes perfectly with Karajan’s Wagner.
In comparison with other SACDs in the Esoteric reissue program, I find the sound to be equally remarkable in quality and character to the the finest recordings available of – the highest demonstration quality recordings to start with and will better the present recording on any format.
For the source material used in the remastering, the packaging states (in Japanese) “remastered from original analog master tapes”. Based solely on the final merits Esoteric has splendidly succeeded. A must-have!

O presente disco é resultado de uma compilação. Foram extraídas algumas "passagens" memoráveis da Tetralogia do Anel, um dos mais soberbos e audaciosos projetos operísticos da história. O disco ficou imensamente agradável. A regência ficou a cargo de Neeme Järvi. É sempre bom revisitar a obra de Wagner. As obras do compositor são emissárias dos grandes pensamentos, das grandes emoções. Não deixe de ouvir. Uma boa apreciação!

There's undoubtedly an enormous amount of sensitivity and experience in the Schumann . . . [in the Debussy] you can hear two great pianists at work . . . There's a wide range of tone colour, and the flexibility of tempo is mostly coherent, bringing out the tragedy of the central movement, as well as the virtuoso outpouring of the first, and the wit and fleetness of foot in the third . . . [in the Bartók] Barenboim and Argerich are clearly in the swing of all the complex rhythms, and the first movement is very exciting. (Martin Cotton / BBC Music Magazine). . . [Schumann / "6 Studien in kanonischer Form"]: Martha Argerich and Daniel Barenboim bring a lovely leisurely flow to the first study, "Nicht zu schnell" with some beautifully done decorations. These two could easily be one, such is the terrific interweaving of musical lines. "Mit innigem Ausdruck" again has a fine flow with these two fine musicians gently pointing up every detail bringing a wonderfully subtle rubato in this most beautifully shaped performance . . . [Debussy / "En blanc et noir"]: This is a masterly performance . . . [Bartók / "Sonata for 2 Pianos & Percussion"]: There is quite thrilling playing here from all these musicians, a great freedom and wonderful panache. The precision between pianos and percussion is impressive with an electricity running right through this performance . . .
